Why Should I meditate?…Because Bruce Lee says so that’s why!
Meditation has benefited me in so many ways where the physical and mental benefits are widely accepted and reported the biggest effect that it has had on me is inspiration and motivation, its hard for me to put into words that do it justice but luckily many great people have walked this path and here are some of their words……
We could say that meditation doesn’t have a reason or doesn’t have a purpose. In this respect it’s unlike almost all other things we do except perhaps making music and dancing. When we make music we don’t do it in order to reach a certain point, such as the end of the composition. If that were the purpose of music then obviously the fastest players would be the best. Also, when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as in a journey. When we dance, the journey itself is the point, as when we play music the playing itself is the point. And exactly the same thing is true in meditation. Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment. –Alan Watts
Through meditation and by giving full attention to one thing at a time, we can learn to direct attention where we choose. –Eknath Easwaran
Meditation practice isn’t about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better, it’s about befriending who we are. –Ani Pema Chodron
Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
Bruce Lee
Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom. –Buddha
Meditation gives us peace of mind without a tranquilizer. And unlike a tranquilizer, the peace of mind that we get from meditation does not fade away. It lasts for good in some corner of the inmost recesses of our aspiring heart. –Sri Chinmoy
The gift of learning to meditate is the greatest gift you can give yourself in this lifetime. –Sogyal Rinpoche

Whenever you try to exert control over the natural ebb and flow of life, you end up either frustrated or disappointed because it can’t be controlled. Whenever you apply effort to trying to relax and slow down, you produce the opposite effect. Whenever you try to dictate the outcome of your meditation you negate its most wondrous benefit the pleasure of simply being.- Paul Wilson the quiet

Meditation increases your vitality and strengthens your intelligence; your beauty is enhanced; your mental clarity and health improve. You acquire the patience and fortitude to face any problem in life. So, meditate! Only through meditation will you find the treasure you are seeking.

What the doctors and scientists say

Physical and health benefits of meditation

As meditation has become more well-known in the West, scientists have begun to quantify its physical benefits in hundreds of studies.

Significant benefits have been found for many health conditions, including heart disease, cholesterol, high blood pressure, insomnia, chronic pain, cancer, and immunity. Because meditation is a low-cost intervention with no side-effects, it shows promise for relief of a wide range of societal and health problems.

• In a study of health insurance statistics, meditators had 87% fewer hospitalizations for heart disease, 55% fewer for benign and malignant tumors, and 30% fewer for infectious diseases. The meditators had more than 50% fewer doctor visits than did non-meditators.(1)

• Meditation lowers blood pressure to levels comparable to prescription drugs for those who are normal to moderately hypertensive.(2)

• Meditation increases circulation in beginning meditators by 30%, and in experienced meditators by as much as 65%.(3)

• Meditation has endorsed by the NIH as effective for the relief of chronic pain. Chronic pain sufferers experience a reduction in symptoms of 50% or more.(4)

• 75% of long-term insomniacs who have been trained in relaxation, meditation, and simple lifestyle changes can fall asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed.(5)

• Meditation reduces blood sugar levels in diabetics.(6)

• A group of inner-city residents suffering from chronic pain, anxiety, depression, diabetes and hypertension were trained in meditation. They experienced a 50% reduction in overall psychiatric symptoms, a 70% decrease in anxiety, and a 44% reduction in medical symptoms.(7)

So don’t take my word for it take theirs! What I can say is that If you practise regularly, the benefits of meditation will promote a sense of calm and control, you’ll feel far more relaxed and happy. Your ability to concentrate will be greater. You won’t become stressed about things and you’ll feel more peaceful and relaxed about everything. One of the greatest benefits of meditation is learning to go with the flow and things that used to irritate you before simply become insignificant.

At Rutland Sanctuary one of the methods we most use is Regression/past life based therapies, over the last couple of years we have helped numerous people, they know that our methods worked we know that they work, but why?how? the answer varies depending on who you ask and although there are thousands of case studies and reams of evidence there has been little that would satisfy a scientific mind…that is until now. This BBC report tells how scientists have found evidence within Our Inherited DNA, they believe that within our DNA lie memories of all of the experiences of our forefathers and their lives.
For those of you that have worked with us I hope that this goes some way to explaining your experiences.

What would happen if humanity declared war on world poverty and suffering and acted on this declaration with the same vigour and mobilisation level that we would have happened had we declared world war 3 on each other?

This is the exact scenario that Benjamin Fulford eludes to in his latest blog ( shown later on in this blog ). Benjamin Fulford is at the forefront of a growing number of people including myself that believe change is coming and that it is coming soon! There are a lot of doomsday predictions out there but this growing movement focuses more on positive swathes of change that will affect humanity on an unprecedented level.

You would be hard pressed to not be aware what the catalyst for this change will most likely be, it is all over the news and all over the internet, the summer news that is usually dubbed ” silly season ” due to the lack of proper stories is packed with Financial scandal on a scale unprecedented to date and the scandal is growing daily. A brief scan of financial forums shows that these scandals and misdeeds run deep into a financial system and are probably just the tip of a very unpleasant iceburg.

Its very hard to imagine what would happen if a full financial meltdown occured.

  • Life will go on
  • Things will change

I could add to that list that people will panic or people will loot but they are not certainties and they dont matter in the long run, the things above are certainties and will affect the long run. Change is something that is so positive and empowerering especially in a world that needs change more than ever, so whatever comes our way lets embrace it and try to change for the better, i mean if life turned on its head tomorrow the banks closed and the airwaves went dead what would you really miss? what do you hold dear? With this in mind here are some things to ask yourself.

These questions have no right or wrong answers.

Because sometimes asking the right questions is the answer.

  1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
  2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
  3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
  4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
  5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
  6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
  7. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
  8. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
  9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
  10. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
  11. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire.  They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend.  The criticism is distasteful and unjustified.  What do you do?
  12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
  13. Would you break the law to save a loved one?
  14. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
  15. What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
  16. How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?
  17. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?  What’s holding you back?
  18. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?
  19. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
  20. Do you push the elevator button more than once?  Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
  21. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
  22. Why are you, you?
  23. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
  24. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
  25. What are you most grateful for?
  26. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
  27. Is is possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
  28. Has your greatest fear ever come true?
  29. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset?  Does it really matter now?
  30. What is your happiest childhood memory?  What makes it so special?
  31. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
  32. If not now, then when?
  33. If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?
  34. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?
  35. Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?
  36. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?
  37. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
  38. Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?
  39. Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before?
  40. When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?
  41. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
  42. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?
  43. What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
  44. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?
  45. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
  46. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
  47. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing?
  48. What do you love?  Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love?
  49. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday?  What about the day before that?  Or the day before that?
  50. Decisions are being made right now.  The question is:  Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you?

and now ask yourself again what would you really miss? What do you hold dear?

What would happen if humanity declared war on world poverty and suffering and acted on this declaration with the same vigour and mobilisation level that we would have happened had we declared world war 3 on each other?

Does a Catapillar miss being a Catapillar once it has become a butterfly? let yourself find opportunity in the change.

It is time to look at the big picture again
Benjamin Fulford, July 17, 2012

When historical events are taking place, the daily rush of news event can fog the vision. We have entered such a time of fog now, so it is a good time to stand back and look at the big picture. The European “crisis,” the US “fiscal cliff,” and the ongoing war-mongering by the NATO terrorist states in the Middle East are all part of a fundamental and unstoppable shift in the way this planet is ruled. No amount of propaganda in the Western corporate media and no amount of number inputting in central bank “black screens,” is going to change that reality. The vast majority of the world’s money is now controlled by non-Westerners who have a very different agenda from that of the people who have been ruling the West and most of the world since at least 300 years ago.

The best analogy for what is happening to the West is the fall of the Soviet Union. It started with a ship-yard strike in Gdansk Poland and ended with the fall of the Soviet Union in what in retrospect seems like no time whatsoever. At the time, though the several years in between those two event seemed to last an eternity.

Right now in the West, the regime change against bankster controlled criminal government has started with Iceland but it will end with the United States and the Vatican.

It is something like a Titanic hits the iceberg type of moment where technicians and the ship’s top crew know the vessel is doomed even if they cannot say exactly how long people have to get onto the lifeboats.

What happened to make the fall of the Soviet Union inevitable was not, as we are told, the economic failure of the Soviet model. Instead, it turns out it was the theft of the Soviet Union’s foreign exchange reserves that made the collapse a matter of time.

What we are seeing in the West is the same. The money making machine at the Federal Reserve Board has been closed down so collapse is inevitable.

Think of it as following: a high flying Wall Street Trader has been fired. He has enough money from his “golden handshake” and savings to keep on going as if nothing has happened. However, you notice that he has begun to sell off his sports cars and art collection.

He has also been borrowing money from banks but he is now fully mortgaged out so he has had to borrow from friends. That has also hit bottom so he has begun hitting non-bank financial companies and loan sharks for money. He has also been writing checks that he knows will bounce (think of the 19 announcements that the “euro crisis” has been solved).

If you are watching all this from the sidelines, you will know that it is not long before the Wall Street high flier will be moving out of his fancy digs.

The situation in the Western world is very much like what has been described above. For the past 30 years the United States and Europe (as a whole) have been running a trade deficit with the rest of the world.

The financial leaders in the West have been secretly financing this deficit by making promises they could not keep. That is why, for example, a $300,000 bond backed by a lifetime of labor is issued every time an American citizen is born. That is why the Chinese have been secretly issued liens on much of US real estate as well.

These maneuvers have bought time and created the appearance that all is well, especially in the US. However, just like Wall Street junkie above, you can deny reality for a certain time but it always catches up with you.

This is the case with the West.

What is now happening is that the creditor nations have stopped issuing new credit.

That is why there is now a 147 nation alliance, led by Brazil, Russia, India, China and Africa that is telling the Western nations they will not buy their bonds or other “financial products.”

The Western nations, however, have prevented the creditor nations of the world from investing their earnings in trade with the West in buying real things, like multi-national corporations, in the West.

The result has been what appears to be a Mexican stand-off, with two people pointing guns at each other while sitting across from each other on a table.

However, in this case, time is on the side of the 147 nation alliance. The big problem for the West is that the Western nations have “out-sourced” most of their industrial infrastructure. These nations made the arrogant assumption that the rest of the world would make real stuff while the Western world gave them orders through the banks and other financial institutions.

Now they find though, the money being earned at Chinese or ASEAN export factories is not being spent on Western IOUs. The Chinese have been taking their dollars and spending them all over the world on “real” things like real-estate, commodities and factories. Other countries have begun to do the same.

What this means is that both the EU as a whole and the United States are bankrupt but are refusing to admit it.

In the case of the EU, the member countries have been announcing they will print “Euros” in order to get themselves out of their crisis. The problem, of course, is that the European central bank does not have the legal right to print Euros any more Euros […the legal right to print any more Euros].

There is a similar situation with the US.

Many readers, at this point, will object and say that both the US Federal Reserve Board and the European Central Bank have announced massive money printing schemes. The question is then, “where did all this money go?” The answer is that it was blocked every time.

Who is doing the blocking? The answer is the 147 nations that are tired of NATO mass murder and invasion. They can tell the Bank for International Settlements, the BIS, to block the money and they do.

In the case of the United States, a slightly different situation exists. The US is in deeper debt to the rest of the world than the European Union. So far, the Chinese have been keeping them going because a US trade deficit with China is in China’s long term geopolitical interested. The more US dollars they get that they can spend in Asia, Africa or South America (but not Europe and the US) the more friends and influence they get around the world.

The result already has been that Chinese are perceived by the rest of the world as arriving with bags of money and business plans while Western nations arrive with guns and plans for mayhem. Guess who is losing and who is making friends in these circumstances (hint: not the Westerners).

The big blockage remains on Asians and other countries being allowed to spend their money in Europe and the US without impediment. If that becomes possible, Europeans and Americans will be hired in large quantities to engage is a massive campaign to end poverty, stop environmental destruction and start a new age.

The Duck#1.

Firstly if you suffer from Anxiety or Panic attacks please know that you are not going mad! As severe illogical and debilitating that these attacks are you must always remember that you are not coming unhinged and that you can and will beat this. If you are a relative or friend of someone who has attacks you are not as powerless as it may seem and just your being there even in the background will help the person suffering immeasurably, do not underestimate the fear that a panic attack can induce and forgive the sufferer their words and actions, the fight or flight mode does take hold and  can be hurtful to those we love most.

What is a Panic Attack ( Medical language )

While the various symptoms of a panic attack may cause the person to feel that their body is failing, it is in fact protecting itself from harm. The various symptoms of a panic attack can be understood as follows. First, there is frequently (but not always) the sudden onset of fear with little provoking stimulus. This leads to a release of adrenaline which brings about the so-called fight or flight response wherein the person’s body prepares for strenuous physical activity. This leads to an increased heart rate, rapid breathing (hyperventilation) which may be perceived as shortness of breath, and sweating (which increases grip and aids heat loss). Because strenuous activity rarely ensues, the hyperventilation leads to a drop in carbon dioxide levels in the lungs and then in the blood. This leads to shifts in blood pH (respiratory alkalosis or hypocapnia), which in turn can lead to many other symptoms, such as tingling or numbness, dizziness, burning and lightheadidness. Moreover, the release of adrenaline during a panic attack causes vasoconstriction resulting in slightly less bloodflow to the head which causes dizziness and lightheadedness. A panic attack can cause blood sugar to be drawn away from the brain and towards the major muscles. It is also possible for the person experiencing such an attack to feel as though they are unable to catch their breath, and they begin to take deeper breaths, which also acts to decrease carbon dioxide levels in the blood. ( source wikipedia )

Put simply ( Nathans Language )

A stimulus ( very often tiny and unnoticeable/avoidable ) triggers fear inside you, when a person gets scared the body releases chemicals to pump you up so that you can defeat or escape whatever has confronted you, you don’t actually burn up this chemical and so it courses through your body and its effects are amplified by the fact that your senses have been heightened making the situation seem much worse! This in turn causes more fear and we enter the awful spiral.

What Causes Panic/Anxiety attacks?

There are lists of things that cause panic and anxiety attacks, these include genetics, medications, lack of exercise…..etc.

Full lists are found readily on the web, eg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panic_attack , but in my experience ( both my own and that of my patients) these attacks come about with little pattern, sometimes while we are under duress other times just when we are getting dressed or going about our day to day lives. We are all different and our situation and coping methods vary, but we are all have the same human vehicle and its this vehicle that releases the drugs that control the mind.

How to Deal with and overcome Panic/Anxiety attacks

1. Acknowledge and understand what is happening to you; This for me was key, tell yourself ok i am having an attack i have dealt with these before and it WILL pass, realise that you simply have adrenaline in your system and that it is no different to caffeine alcohol or any other drug and the effects will wear off. ( if you can do this then it stops you re panicking and thereby releasing another espresso of adrenaline into your system! )

2. Occupy or still your mind; Both are effective and the best occupiers are productive activities and menial chores do the washing up or ironing, the opposite method is to still your mind and meditation is the best way to do this. Take time to learn a basic meditation, the more that you repeat this meditation the more familiar the head state will become and the more mental control you will gain. Whatever the situation allows and whatever suits the individual but always remember IT WILL PASS, you have beaten it before.

3. Improve your lifestyle and look inside yourself; Ultimately you are the one that will beat this and some introspection is needed. Panic attacks don’t tend to stay with people for their whole life’s and will pass given time but why not help this process.

Let common sense prevail so if you are out on the tiles 5 nights a week cut back, if you work 70 hours a week cut back, if you are worried about a situation share your worries with a loved one or even seek counseling, your G.P. will be able to offer you this service and will have seen many many people in your situation. DO NOT beat yourself up for this you are not weak because of it, it is a common modern illness.

  • Exercise
  • Diet
  • Sleep
  • Slow down mentally
  • Respect yourself
  • Share your troubles

Good Luck

I hope that this reaches its intended audience, of all the things that i have suffered in my life Anxiety/Panic is the one that i would least like to revisit, in feeling the power of the mind to debilitate you though you should see that it has equal power to repair you and improve your life, please try and stay positive i genuinely believe that your outlook on life can help massively to keep you healthy and well, and please don’t suffer in silence, good luck.

Currently Liz and myself ( Nathan ) are interested and motivated by something we refer to as clearing. I have been fascinated recently by physical clearing ( detox ) using Zeolite powder as a chellator ( heavy metal and toxin remover ) and removing poisons such as Aspartame and MSG from my diet, I am now reinforcing this by taking krill oil and Reishi mushroom extract and meditating on a regular basis.

Liz is equally as fascinated but by spiritual clearing, looking deep inside oneself  to understand your problems/burdens better! This ranges from meditation and introspection to spirit releasment therapy which involves a process similar to regression.

We both believe that a person has Physical Mental and Spiritual health all three aspects affect each other for example depression manifests physical aches and weariness so all three should be addressed in order to be completely well.

We are in the early stages of planning a course whereby we can teach the reasons and methods that make clearing one of the strongest and most exciting healing processes that we have encountered.

If you are interested or have any questions please comment, thank you.

One of the aims for this blog is to share inspiring and uplifting thoughts and images and nothing does that quite like a flashmob. I dont know if its the music or the crowd reaction or just the fact that people do wonderful things… this made me smile.

Hello and Welcome to the Rutland Sanctuary blog, Nathan and Liz will be using this blog to discuss spirituality and to share our experiences as we travel along our paths.

Some of what we say may resonate with you and you may want a more in depth discussion please leave comments and engage us, some may seem a bit out there! Try and keep an open mind, we will happily share our experiences with you so that you might better understand why we believe in what we  believe.
